In this paper, thermal-catalytic chemical vapor deposition (thermal-CVD) is used to improve the quality of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by varying the thickness of catalyst (Ni), processing time of the hydrogen treatment, flow rate of reaction gas (C2H2). And also the properties of CNTs on different buffer layers (W,Ti, etc) in microstructures on glass substrates are studied. The grown CNTs are examined...
In this paper, individual molybdenum nanotip electrical properties and field emission are studied. Molybdenum nanotips are synthesis on stainless steel substrate by the method of thermal vapor deposition in a chamber with the vacuum of 7 Pa and are characterized by SEM, TEM and EDS.
Here we have successfully synthesized patterned W18O49 nanowire arrays in large scale by lift-off way, which has described in our report also to this conference. In order to remove the aluminum oxide layer, the sample was put into the phosphoric acid with a concentration of 60 % (volume ratio). The treatment time in 90°C water bath was usually about 4 hours. The treated and untreated tungsten oxide...
Studies on micro-fabrication processes on integrating amorphous Si nanowires (a-SiNWs) arrays into a triode device structures were performed. Self-aligned technique was employed. Uniform a-SiNW array and gated a-SiNW triode device structure were obtained. The work provides a possibility for fabricating crosslink addressable arrays of a-SiNW triode devices on low cost and large area glass substrates.
The effects of field emission cycles applied on the screen printed carbon nanotube (CNT) cold cathode were studied. CNT emitters were vertically well aligned and the emission images were visibly improved after the field treatment. The mechanism of the treatment was investigated using scanning electron microscopy. The mechanism may involve the erasion of hot spot and alignment of CNT
In this paper, nanodiamonds embedded diamond-like carbon films were fabricated. Nanodiamonds were dispersed onto silicon wafer by dielectrophoresis technique while the DLC films were deposited using magnetic filtered cathodic vacuum arc (MFCVA) technique. Surface inhomogeneity of morphology, contact potential and resistance of the films were studied by using scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy,...
W18O49 nanotip arrays were prepared by a two-step high-temperature, catalyst-free physical evaporation deposition process in high-purity argon gas. The prepared products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Field emission measurements were carried out with a transparent...
Well-aligned CuO nanowire arrays were grown using a thermal oxidation method at temperatures ranging from 350 to 650degC. Morphology and structure characterization was done by field emission scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction, while composition and electronic structure was studied by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy,...
In this paper, single tungsten oxide (WOx) nanotip has been welded on tungsten microtip by pulsed laser. Also, field emission characteristic and low resistance electrical contact were obtained using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
ZnO nanowire films were grown on stainless-steel disc with a thin layer of Au as catalyst by thermal evaporation in a vacuum chamber. Morphology of the nanowires was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, while emission site distribution images were recorded by a CCD camera. The nanowires were then used as cathodes in a luminescent tube and its turn-on and threshold voltages and fields, and...
A Bayard-Alpert ionization gauge with a carbon nanotube (CNT) field emitter was fabricated and tested. CNTs were grown on stainless steel rods by thermal chemical vapor deposition at 900degC in a mixture of CH4 an H2 gas. The structure of the as-grown CNTs was investigated using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The longtime field emission stability,...
Au-Ag nanoparticles are used as nanomasks for Si nanowires fabrication. Au-Ag alloy film deposited on Si substrate is annealed in H 2 ambient at a temperature of 750degC. The SiNWs were fabricated through a dry etching processing in an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. SEM images of the uniform vertically aligned silicon nanowire arrays show 50 to 100 nm nanowire diameter range and ~1.1 mum...
Field emission display (FED) as one of the next generation display technologies, has attracted the attentions of many researchers. Preparation of low cost cold cathode material for FED application is the topic that attracts much attention in this area. In this paper, the vacuum gap dependence of field emission characteristics of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) polymer thin film were observed. The observed...
Diverse tungsten oxide nanostructures are prepared at different conditions of hot filament arrays thermal vapor method. The synthesized nanostructures are characterized using SEM, XRD and EDS. These structures exhibited high turn-on fields that may be due to the electrostatic screening effect caused by high energy density of tungsten oxide nanowire interlaced structure
