A low profile wide-angle scan phased array antenna is designed in this paper. With the tile architecture, profile of the phased array antenna is reduced dramatically; in addition, the main beam of antenna array can steer to the desired direction by combining the invasive weed optimization method with the active element radiation pattern of inter-element, which includes the effects of mutual coupling...
A plane antenna suitable for Bluetooth headsets is proposed. An asymmetric coplanar waveguide ground plane was used to achieved a bidirectional radiation pattern. An impedance bandwidth of 223 MHz (9%) covering the ISM band (2.4–2.484 GHz) was obtained. The peak gain of the antenna was 3.2 dBi.
A design concept for a wearable device is proposed. The coplanar waveguide is ground-connected to short the bottom ground. The proposed antenna was fabricated on 0.4-mm-thick 20 mm × 15 mm FR4 substrate, and exhibited a bandwidth of 300 MHz (2.33–2.63 GHz). The antenna is sufficient for covering the 2.4-GHz Bluetooth/WiFi band.
This article presents a compact multi-layer handset phone 13.56 MHz NFC antenna design by novel LITA (Laser-Induced Integrated Thin-Film Antenna) technologies, which is jointly developed by ITRI and ACON in Taiwan. Through the proposed LITA technology, metal layouts of antennas can be formed on the internal surface of a smartwatch casing successfully with conformal, thin-film type, multi-layer and...
A ±45° slant polarization (SP) reconfigurable omnidirectional antenna and a circular polarization (CP) reconfigurable omnidirectional antenna are proposed. 16 PIN diodes are employed for the ±45° SP reconfigurable omnidirectional antenna while 8 PIN diodes are used for the CP reconfigurable omnidirectional antenna. Simulation and experimental results are demonstrated.
A single-fed 5.8 GHz dual-polarized rectenna (rectifying antenna) is presented. The impedance bandwidth of antenna meets the specification of Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) and the measured peak gain varies from 4.5–5.7 dBi. The single-fed dual-polarized rectenna achieves RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of 79% at 5.8 GHz and DC voltage of 7.38 V, it is attainable for wireless power transmission.
In this paper, two Ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas with different isolation structures are proposed. A comb U stub and an inverted-T stub are designed to improve the isolation between two antenna elements. Over the whole ultra-wide bandwidth, the return losses are better than 10 dB, and the isolation between two elements are better than 20 dB. The simulation and...
A polarization reconfigurable rectenna, which consists of a polarization reconfigurable planar monopole antenna and a planar rectifying circuit, is proposed for microwave power transmission (MPT). The planar monopole is designed with one linear polarization (LP) and two circular polarizations (CPs). The rectifying circuit is connected to the antenna with a 50 Ohm microstrip line. The rectenna can...
A novel center-fed Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of two layers of microstrip patches, a folded ground plane and three choke rings. Simulated and measured results show that two frequency bands for return loss >10 dB cover GPS L2 (1.193∼1.247 GHz) and GPS L1 (1.545∼1.625 GHz) with good axial ratio (AR) performance. The radiation...
A lightning radiation electromagnetic field data acquisition and processing system based on LabVIEW is proposed in this paper. This system can acquire two channels of magnetic field signal and one channel of electric field signal simultaneously. The sampling rate of the system can reach up to 20 MS/s, and this value can be adjusted according to the requirement of the different measurement tasks. The...
An ultra-wideband (UWB) planar antenna optimized by a newly developed Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm- Jumping Genes Genetic Algorithm (JGGA) is proposed. The optimization procedure aims at finding an antenna not only with low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and small size, but also with stable radiation pattern over the wide band. There are five objective functions and they are based on...
