Nd3+-doped Ba(Zr, Mg, Ta)O3 ceramic laser is reported. The broadband fluorescence profile can be tailored by the “disordered” perovskite structure and is suitable for ultrashort pulse lasers. Mode-locked laser operation was demonstrated for the first time.
We have succeeded in direct lasing at 1178 nm with linear polarization from ytterbium-doped fiber. By composing high Q-value cavity with all-fiber configuration, parasitic lasing was suppressed. The output power amounts to 3.03 W with 49.5% slope efficiency and bandwidth of 0.037 nm. A maximum of 205 mW output power at 589 nm was obtained at the maximum of 3.03 W input power of 1178 nm laser.
