The short wavelength limit of a thulium fiber laser is investigated. Wavelength tuning from 1720nm to 1660nm was demonstrated and fixed wavelength operation up to 12.6W at 1726nm with slope efficiency of 67% was achieved.
Wavelength-swept operation of cladding-pumped and core-pumped thulium-doped fiber lasers using a novel intracavity rotating disk wavelength-scanning arrangement is reported. Scanning ranges from 1905–2049nm (for cladding pumping) and 1768–1956nm (for core pumping) were obtained.
Wavelength-swept laser sources with broad wavelength tunability and narrow instantaneous linewidth in the two-micron band have potential applications in a number of areas, including spectroscopic characterisation and optical coherence tomography (OCT). The use of OCT for non-invasive investigation of paintings to provide the information necessary for effective restoration and to aid conservation is...
We report Nd 3+ -doped Ba(Zr,Mg,Ta)O 3 ceramic lasers. The fluorescence of the ceramics shows characteristic broadband spectra due to the disordered crystalline system and can be tailored by the composition adjustment. The continuous-wave laser operations as well as the first mode-locked laser operation are presented.
Nd3+-doped Ba(Zr, Mg, Ta)O3 ceramic laser is reported. The broadband fluorescence profile can be tailored by the “disordered” perovskite structure and is suitable for ultrashort pulse lasers. Mode-locked laser operation was demonstrated for the first time.
Yb3+:(YGd2)Sc2(GaAl2)O12 disordered ceramic has been fabricated. 2.9-W average power with an optical-to-optical efficiency of 44% was achieved in a continuous-wave operation. 112-fs pulse duration with 860-mW average power was also achieved in a mode-locked operation.
Diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked laser operation of Yb3+:Sc2O3 and Yb3+:Y2O3 combined ceramics has been achieved. Sub-60 fs pulses with the average power of 380 mW were obtained at the center wavelength of 1042 nm.
