We present several observations of a random fiber lasing effect induced by Rayleigh backscattering only. A reflective semiconductor optical amplifier re-amplifies the non-coherent light fed back by 25km of SMF acting as a scattered mirror.
The laser behavior of RSOA self seeded sources is investigated. 2.5Gbit/s transmissions are realized with cavities of 10, 26, 100 and 125 km for access and metropolitan networks, realizing the longest external cavity laser.
This paper presents the experimental results obtained on a 16 users WDM PON architecture based on wavelength-seeded R-SOAs both at OLT and ONUs operating at 1,25 Gbit/s. A single spectrum-sliced SLED generates 32 wavelengths.
The FUNFOX European IST-project exploits photonic crystals and nanophotonic concepts to elaborate functional applications of InP-based devices for metropolitan-area-network applications, among which a polarization rotator, a linear amplifier, and a wavelength monitoring device.
