An application of active inductors in a CMOS LNA with inductive partial degeneration in 0.35µm technology is presented. Both, the inductor of the partial degeneration and the output load inductor, are actives. The results are satisfactory, validating the compact design and demonstrating the technical feasibility of this design for use in several electronic RF devices.
The advent of modern communication systems has made the study of RF integrated circuits an attractive issue. However, the limitation of the passive integrated inductors is still a huge limitation. Integrated inductors take significant chip area, have low inductance values and unsatisfactory quality factors (Q). As a solution, active inductors have been proposed. In this work the de-embedding technique...
In this work, metamaterial patterns are applied to a GTEM - Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic Chamber to improve and give flexibility to its frequency response. The main goal is to achieve a better frequency resonance regardless the dimensions of the original chamber. Therefore, a comparison between the CLL - Capacitively Loaded Loop and Fractal metamaterial technology for these purposes, is done...
A Periodic Structure characterized here as a metamaterial, is patterned and was applied to the septum of a GTEM chamber, in order to obtain a more accurate and flexible frequency band on the DUT. The main analysis is carried out on the excitation sector of the GTEM chamber - APEX. The basic metamaterial cell pattern employed here consists of a ring resonator - RR or CLL (Capacitively Loaded Loop)...
In this work, a Quasi-Yagi antenna is designed to operate at 2.4 GHz for RFID applications. The proposed device is composed by a Quasi-Yagi antenna surrounded by fractal metamaterial structures placed in strategic positions, which improve the bandwidth and enhance the antenna tuning at a desired frequency. Design guidelines to implement the fractal structures and the Quasi-Yagi antenna are presented...
In this work it is shown the challenges to characterize a “labmade” GTEM chamber since the analysis through the simulator, until the functional test on the built chamber. The details of the design and construction of the APEX (the excitation sector of the chamber), including the optimized way to install the connector and the septum, which is the most critical point on the chamber implementation, is...
The AC power supply clocked circuits is a class of digital gates which uses clock signals replacing the VDD and ground terminals in the static gates. In this paper the guideline for an AC-clocked logic gate is described. One crucial problem related to digital circuits design is the zero-order calculation or first guess on the device dimensions. The DCVSL-Differential Cascode Voltage Switching Logic...
