The purpose of the paper is to present a series of measurements of the mobile and nomadic satellite propagation channels in Ku and Ka bands, covering mainly the environments encountered by vehicles of public transportation. The first campaign “without leaves” conducted in April 2014 provided a good dataset of Ku and Ka-band attenuation caused by four different kinds of trees. Mobile Ku-band measurements...
A major source of positioning errors in challenging environments such as urban areas is related to scattering and reflections of GNSS signals in the local environment of the receiver. The corresponding multipaths become even more critical as the number of applications available in constrained environments increases as well as the need for quality of service and integrity. Many multipath mitigation...
This paper presents the configuration and sample results of two experiments carried out by ONERA and CNES. These measurements were performed at 2.2 and 3.8 GHz with SISO, MIMO and SIMO antennas configurations. A first experiment includes multi-elevation characterization of the Land Mobile Satellite Channel. The second one includes both Land Mobile and Nomadic configurations.
A deep knowledge of all propagation effects has become an essential issue to design future communication and navigation systems and optimise their performances. Here, we will target Land Mobile Satellite (LMS) systems, with focus on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The urban environment is one of the most critical for LMS systems, since shadowing, multipath fading and time spreading are...
