We report a spatial heterodyne Fourier-transform spectrometer consisting of an array of Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZI) implemented in silicon microphotonics. Optical path differences between the MZI arms increase linearly along the array, generating a wavelength-dependent interferogram which enables the retrieval of the source spectrum with a single measurement. Optical delays were implemented...
Athermal silicon subwavelength grating waveguides are demonstrated. We report the results of numerical simulations and experiments for the waveguide thermo-optic coefficients, as well as fabrication tolerances and the thermal bandwidth.
Our progress in subwavelength structures in silicon waveguides is reviewed. Several practical implementations of subwavelength grating waveguides are discussed, including fibre-chip couplers, waveguide crossings and athermal waveguides.
We demonstrate a new microphotonic waveguide principle based on subwavelength gratings. We also present several practical implementations of subwavelength waveguides, including a microphotonic fiber-chip coupler with a coupling loss as small as −0.3 dB, a waveguide crossover with an excess loss of 0.02dB/crossing and a PDL of <0.1 dB, and a new type of planar waveguide multiplexer.
This paper describes an internet-based distributed data-acquisition system for fiber-optic pressure sensors. There is a great need in industry to coordinate remote resources to perform a common task. The architecture described is based on remote access, via the internet, to a large number of fiber-optic pressure sensors located in different geographical areas. Distribution is done with server applications,...
