Proposed is a novel technique for high resolution spectral characterisation of polarisation dependent loss of optical components, based on an optical single sideband with suppressed carrier modulation. Experimental measurements are performed to demonstrate the technique.
We present a novel technique to generate orthogonally polarized optical single sideband modulated signals. The modulation scheme is based on all optical stimulated Brillouin scattering processing of the optical carrier of an OSSB modulated signal, by means of the polarization state dragging induced by this non-linear effect. This modulation scheme is required in applications such as antenna beamforming...
A dynamically reconfigurable Microwave Photonic Filter based on True Time Delay generated by Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in optical fibers and separate phase shift of the optical carrier has been experimentally demonstrated, resulting in a flexible tunable Free Spectral Range.
We present a technique to use Stimulated Brillouin Scattering processing for RF phase-shift in optical feed networks of phased array antennas. Proof-of-concept experiments of beam steering in a 5-element array are demonstrated.
We introduce a novel method for the measurement of wavelength-dependent polarization-averaged group delay, polarization dependent loss and polarization mode dispersion of optical components using swept optical single sideband modulated signals. Measurements of a phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating, a chirped fiber Bragg grating and of Brillouin spectra are used to demonstrate the system.
We introduce a novel technique to generate optical single sideband, optical double sideband with suppressed carrier and optical single sideband with suppressed carrier modulated signals, based on the combination of two time-delayed orthogonally polarized signals.
We experimentally demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge incoherent microwave photonic filters with multi-tap all-optical complex coefficients. A five-tap structure is built to highlight the enhanced tuning performance provided by these novel type of filters.
Three new thermotolerant species of Corynascus isolated from Indian and Argentinian soils are described and illustrated: C. sexualis sp. nov. characterised by small ascospores and the absence of a Myceliophthora anamorph (present in all other species of the genus); C. similis sp. nov. characterised by navicular ascospores with two lateral to sub-terminal germ pores; and C. verrucosus sp. nov. distinguished...
