We demonstrated experimentally a stable 1μm multi-wavelength YDF based random fiber laser by using a polarization independent Sagnac-loop mirror with output power of 1.6W and high OSNR of 30dB.
A method of 40GHz phase stable short pulses generation is experimentally demonstrated. It is based on a dual parallel Mach–Zehnder modulator (DPMZM) driven by only one electrical sinusoidal clock and two cascaded phase modulators. The generated pulses are characterized with full-width-at-half-maximum pulse width of 1.9ps, extinction ratio of 27dB, timing jitter of 36fs and signal to noise ratio over...
Multi-layer Provisioning (MLP) of End-to-End light-path in OBS/GMPLS interworking network is successfully demonstrated by introducing extensions to MPLS signaling protocol in LOBS network. The feasibility of this mechanism was experimentally verified in an OBS/GMPLS testbed. In contrast to pervious single-layer resource provision mechanism, MLP ensures stable and high throughput of Reno TCP transportation.
Fast tunable wavelength converter based on a GCSR laser and a digital driver is demonstrated in this paper. The wavelength coverage of the GCSR laser is over 40 nm. Hopping-mode wavelengths generated during tuning process are suppressed. Experimental results show that the shortest tuning time is within 6 ns of wavelength coverage 6.6 nm and the suppression ratio of the hopping-mode is 40 dB.
To address the demands of emerging applications or services which require not only the network resources but also the non-network resources, a new optical burst switching (OBS) network scenario is proposed and demonstrated in this paper. This scenario can be referred to as service oriented labeled OBS network, in which a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based service plane is introduced. This service...
Pakistan Internet Exchange (PIE) is the largest Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Pakistan operated and maintained by Pakistan Telecom. PIE serves almost all categories of IP users like ISPs, Educational Institutions, DNOPS, VOIP Operators, Cable Operators and Institutions with multiple services like Internet Access, DSL, MPLS-VPNs, VoIP, IPTV and VoD. PIE has 3 main nodes and 42 remote nodes with...
A novel scheme that integrates suppression of transients for burst amplification and generation of cloned bursts all-optically is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. Impacts of control power and burst parameters are investigated while results are optimized.
The first demonstration of a dynamic application-aware labelled optical burst switched network is reported. With the implementation of three novel mechanisms, i.e. dynamic session initiation protocol peer-to-peer hybrid resource discovery and management, dynamic end-to-end label switched path setup and dynamic offset time, the network can support various emerging applications with high efficiency...
An all-optical logic unit to process CSRZ-OOK format signals based on FWM arising in an SOA is proposed. A logic OR gate and two logic AND gates with different wavelengths could be simultaneously achieved in this single unit without reconfiguration.
Impact of OBS and TCP parameters on instantaneous behavior (fluctuations) of TCP cwnd is evaluated on LOBS Testbed. Experimental and simulation results show that cwnd fluctuations can be reduced by tuning OBS and TCP parameters.
Dynamic protection/restoration schemes supporting QoS were proposed in OBS/GMPLS interworking network for the first time. Dynamic offset time scheme supported by OBS extensions was also verified.
The traffic-driven labeled optical burst switching network testbed is demonstrated in this paper. The performance of several high speed TCPs are experimentally evaluated over the testbed. The results show that HSTCP has the best performance.
