In this paper, we propose a novel broadband antenna printed on FR4 substrate operating in GSM 850/900 bands, 824 MHz~960 MHz, utilizing very small space. Thanks to its size this antenna can be integrated in the handset effectively. Using a standard printed circuit board for the antenna also has the advantage that other components can be integrated at once in to the same board.
Dual band antennas using artificial metamaterial TLs are introduced. The EZR and MZR frequencies and properties of open-/short-ended metamaterial resonators are analyzed based on equivalent circuit. Dual band antenna characteristic such as resonance frequency, size, gain, and radiation pattern are discussed based on theoretically analyzed and simulated results.
In this paper, a novel multi-port, multi-band small planar antenna is presented. It has three input ports; each of them has their own frequency bands, 2.4 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz. These three antennas are printed on a small area, 250 mm2. The proposed antenna is printed on a cheap organic material substrate with other RF components. It requires enough isolation among the antennas since each frequency...
In this paper, we proposed the multi element PIFA with an enhanced gain characteristic. It is 35 times 15 times 5 mm3 in size so that it can be put in the A-model handset case of the S-company. The radiator of the antenna is divided into 4 elements to obtain the antenna with high gain characteristic. The divided antenna can obtain enhanced gain characteristic as currents are uniformly distributed...
In this paper, the frequency tunable antenna for T-DMB application is proposed. Since the proposed antenna has the small size of 10 x 30 x 3 mm , it can be installed in the body of the mobile handsets, televisions, etc. The radiator size is reduced by patterning the helical line on both sides of the substrate and adding an open-stub beside to the ground plane. In addition to this, utilizing a varactor...
In this paper, two representing diodes, the PIN diode and the varactor, are used for the Macro-micro frequency tuning. The PIN diode in the antenna is used for switching wireless service bands (Macro-tuning). As well as the varactor in the antenna is used for tuning frequency band to obtain the constant antenna gain (micro-tuning). The proposed antenna newly realizes desirable broad and fine frequency...
Although MIMO (multi-input multi-output) has attracted attention as an efficient communication technology for high frequency use, the channel capacity of MIMO systems depends primarily on radio propagation. Therefore, development of a MIMO antenna system that can obtain high channel capacity in a variety of propagation environments is important. This paper focuses on antenna pattern selection (APS...
A miniature monopole antenna for W-LAN (IEEE 802.11b) is presented in this paper. The antenna design concept is based on lambda/8 folded monopole antenna with self-impedance matching structure. A size of the proposed antenna is smaller than the resonant length, thus the impedance at the terminal of antenna becomes reactive. To compensate the impedance miss-matching, the proposed antenna is employed...
A novel internal antenna of compact 2-channel MIMO for handy terminal is presented for WiBro(Wireless Broadband Internet) which operating at 2.35 GHz band. The proposed antenna is designed for minimum space occupation on PCB board of a mobile device so that the circuit design of a mobile device is convenient. We investigated for the reduction of mutual coupling between antenna elements. To decrease...
A small monopole antenna with novel impedance matching structure is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is designed for W-LAN (IEEE 802.11b). The antenna design concept is based on lambda/8 folded monopole antenna with self-impedance matching structure. The size if the proposed antenna is smaller than the resonant length, thus the impedance at the terminal of the antenna becomes very capacitive...
