We produced numerical and experimental investigation of multilayer W-type optical fibers. These fibers provide near singlemode propagation of radiation with output beam quality parameter upto M2=1.4 for 1.06 µm and M2=1.03 for 1.28 µm for core diameter about 50µm
We report advantages of tapered active double-clad fibers as gain medium for high power fiber lasers and amplifiers with diffraction limited output beam quality and extremely large output beam cross-section up to 100 µm in diameter
Bragg gratings were written in metal-coated nitrogen-doped silica core fibers. The gratings remain functioning at temperatures up to 900/spl deg/C long-term and can be used as sensing elements in various applications.
