Electricity from renewable energy sources is craving for efficient storage technologies, in particular solar industry, to enable practical small-scale solutions for residential and offices use. The best stationary technology is probably the redox flow batteries. This article proposes the direct conversion of sunlight into electrochemical energy stored in a redox flow battery. A photoelectrochemical...
Ethanol was extracted from the aqueous phase of fermentation into octane in a hollow fibre membrane module and converted using long-chain carboxylic acids into the corresponding esters by immobilized lipase in a reactor integrated into the octane recycle loop. The esters separated from the acids by extraction were recovered and acids and the residue esters re-extracted into octane and recycled.
