In this work, the growing process of Yb-doped YAG crystals is modified to achieve stoichiometric YbAG samples with a minimum quenching of the Yb3+-fluorescence. The best samples were grown by the Czochralski technique from rhenium-crucibles under reducing atmosphere (H2+N2). The as-grown YbAG crystals are of light blue color due to Yb2+-centers. The fluorescence lifetime of Yb3+ after annealing the...
In this work we report simultaneous emission on the 0.9-mum 4F3/2 → 4I9/2 and the 1.06-μm 4F3/2 → 4I11/2 transitions in Nd-based laser materials employing the thin-disk geometry in a multi-pass pump scheme, as well as a new design of the optical resonator.
High-power visible laser sources were realized by using Nd-based media in thin-disk geometry. The optical pumping was performed with diode lasers at 0.81 mum. To the best of our knowledge, for the first time pumping at 0.88 mum into the 4F3/2 level was also employed for Nd-vanadates for such a scheme. Improved performance are expected by optimizing various parameters of the laser configuration and,...
We report on continuous-wave 532-nm Nd:YVO4 thin-disk lasers with output powers of 6.4 W and 4.4 W with pumping at 808 nm and 880 nm, respectively. Also, deep-blue emission in the watt regime was achieved from Nd-doped vanadates.
A continuous-wave, diode-pumped Nd:GdVO4 thin disk laser with simultaneous dual-wavelength emission at the 912 nm 4F3/2→4I9/2 quasi-three-level transition and the 1063 nm 4F3/2→4I11/2 four-level transition is demonstrated and analyzed. Output powers of 1.7 W at 912 nm and of 1.6 W at 1063 nm were achieved simultaneously from a 0.3-at.%, 300-μm thick Nd:GdVO4 crystal that was multi-pass excited...
