We presented the novel structure of the solar cell that has the metal-Insulator-semiconductor (MIS) diode at the side wall of the electricity generation layer. It is found that the gate voltage is effective to improve the conversion efficiency of the solar cell with large surface recombination velocities.
Standard tactile graphics use the unevenness and texture of a surface to convey a pictorial expression. “Thermal Sensation Tactile Graphics” aims for rich artistic expression by utilizing thermal sensation in addition to texture. Due to the hardness of the material used, however, it is difficult to draw a picture with the unevenness. This paper describes a design tool for “Thermal Sensation Tactile...
This paper introduces the design, development and flight result of a small reusable rocket that glides using parafoil. The mission is autonomous guidance using parafoil, because the rocket must be recovered safely at target point. In order to avoid tangling of parafoil strings, roll control using aileron is employed to keep the ejection door upward. The rocket was launched at an annual rocket launch...
This paper proposes a prioritized access opportunity exchange protocol for enhancing medium access control (MAC) efficiency in short-range one-to-one wireless communications on 60 GHz millimeter wave. A random back-off access protocol is widely spread for distributed wireless networks and is adopted in IEEE 802.11 WLAN standard. When many terminals try to access a wireless medium, the protocol works...
Millimeter-wave (mmWave) wireless systems are a focus of great interest for very high data transmission rate in a short range. Considering short-range communication with a range of the order of several tens of centimeters, only terminals present in this communication range will be influenced. In one-to-one communication, a simpler and more efficient access mechanism is required. Current CSMA/CA based...
This paper proposes an uplink Multi-User (MU) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) protocol in IEEE 802.11 WLANs. In order to realize the uplink MU-MIMO transmission in 802.11 WLANs, there are several problems to be solved. Synchronized transmission among the stations (STAs) is one of the problems and the spatial compatibility between the transmitting STAs is another problem. Therefore, it is considered...
Continued challenge for higher-performance semiconductor device requires the controlled doping of single-dopant atom to control the electrical properties. Here we report the fabrication of semiconductors with both dopant number and position controlled by using a one-by-one doping technique, which we call "single-ion implantation (SII)". This technique enables us to implant dopant ions one-by-one...
