UVB lamps are used to provide reptiles housed indoors with the UV radiation necessary to synthesize vitamin D3 in their skin. Since 2019, UVB‐LED lamps have been on sale for use in reptile husbandry. Second Harmonic Generation, due to its surface selectivity, is a well suited tool to study the surface of nanoparticles. In this contribution we analyse and model experiments on SHG at dielectric, metallic and core-shell particles.
We investigate Second Harmonic Generation at the surface of nanoparticles both by modeling and experiment. We present an ab initio simulation method, which allows deducing surface properties as well as the nature of adsorbed molecules.
