We experimentally demonstrate a Kerr switch based on nonlinear polarization rotation induced by cross-phase modulation in a silicon strip waveguide. Our numerical simulations agree with the experimental measurements and reveal the potential of sub-picosecond switching.
We report experiments and simulations of spiral-shaped microdisk resonator channel drop/add filters with a non-evanescently-coupled waveguide at the spiral notch. We observe asymmetry in modal distributions between the drop/add filters at the same resonance wavelengths.
