A single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) thin plate was prepared using a smectic liquid crystal (Sm LC) template. The induced self-organizing SWCNT plate is attributed to π–π stacking between the hexagonal rings of the SWCNT wall and aromatic moieties in Sm LC. The SWCNT plate was characterized by Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and polarized optical microscopy.
A novel method for fabrication of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) on indium–tin oxide glass substrates modified with self-assembly monolayer has been developed by using a supporting frame composed of a monolayer of monodispersed silica beads and an alternating current electric field. We have found that SWCNTs can be implanted into the interstices of the colloidal superlattices,...
A novel method to fabrication of well-aligned SWNT arrays on SAM-modified ITO glass substrates, using a well dispersed ef-SWNT solution, a supporting frame consisting of a monolayer of monodisperse silica beads, and the appropriate electric fields, has been developed. The use of the colloidal monolayer as a supporting frame enables the vertical alignment of the SWNTs on the ITO substrate. This method...
The aggregation behavior of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-grafted single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) was investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The hybrid functional material was synthesized by producing carboxylic acid groups at nanotube ends and side-wall defect sites, which provide reaction...
