This paper presents the expansion of controllable range in input power factor for matrix converters reducing a number of commutations. The controllable range of the input factor in the proposed scheme can be expanded to arbitrary angle. It can be realized by using eight switching patterns of the conventional four patterns and the new four patterns. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm...
This paper presents the line loss minimization control using a UPFC (unified power flow controller) with power flow estimation in a loop distribution system. The minimization of line loss is realized by eliminating the circulating current using the UPFC in the loop system. In the control of the UPFC, all line current in the loop distribution system are necessary. Therefore, the condition and scheme...
This paper presents a starting method of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) for constant speed application driven by the commercial three-phase power supply. The starting system has an LC niter and Simplified Matrix Converter (SMC) consisting of four bidirectional switches. The effectiveness of the proposed control method has been verified by experiments.
