We demonstrate a passively Q-switched erbium fiber laser using titanium dioxide (TiO 2) as a saturable absorber. The TiO 2 saturable absorber was fabricated as a polymer composite film and sandwiched between fiber ferrules. Q-switched pulsing starts with the assistance of physical disturbance of the laser cavity (by lightly tapping the cavity to induce instability) at 140 mW and lasts until 240 mW...
A compact Q-switched thulium-doped fiber laser (TDFL) operating near the 2.0- region is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed laser uses a 2-m-long thulium-doped fiber with a core absorption of 27 dB/m at 793 nm as the active medium and a graphene oxide (GO)-based saturable absorber (SA) as the Q-switching element. The SA is fabricated by optically depositing GO particles dissolved in...
This paper demonstrates the numerical model of an EDFA with macro-bending. The bending diameter and erbium doped fiber (EDF) length for single-pass macro-bent Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA) are theoretically analyzed by solving differential equations. Numerical results show gain flattened in C-band region compare to un-spooled high concentration EDFA.
