We propose a translucent elastic optical network based on a virtualized elastic regenerator. Using a real-time 128-Gb/s spectrum-selective subchannel regenerator, we verify the concept through mixed-rate superchannel regeneration and frequency-slot merger with spectrum conversion.
We present the first experimental demonstration of a multi-granularity optical-cross-connect node toward 100-Tbit/s scalability. We successfully show 10.24-Tbit/s throughput with completely error-free operation and an 80-Gbit/s (2 times 40-Gbit/s) optical-virtual-concatenation function between different routes.
We investigate the origin of mode coupling in graded index polymer optical fiber (GI-POF) and waveguide, and find out that slight fluctuation of the refractive index profile can cause large mode coupling.
Deskew function using OTU3 multiframe identification is demonstrated. Master-slave type deskew method with simple configuration is proposed to realign skewed parallel data. Skew is successfully compensated.
A congestion-controlled optical burst switching network that offers connection guarantees was designed to handle bursts as short as 100 ms with switching within 10 ms in networks less than 200 km long. Its optical burst switching (OBS) is based on circuit switching, and transport is by optical burst paths. Five metrics are proposed for evaluating OBS network performance. The application area to be...
