Thermal protection under extreme conditions requires materials with excellent thermal insulation properties and exceptional mechanical properties to withstand a variety of complex external stresses. Mesoporous silica aerogels are the most widely used insulation materials due to their ultralow thermal conductivity. However, they still suffer from mechanical fragility and structural instability in practical...
Pattern mining is a popular issue in biological sequence analysis. With the introduction of wildcard gaps, more interesting patterns can be mined. In this paper, we consider a pattern mining problem where pattern frequency is the only evaluation metric. Theoretical analysis shows that the most frequent patterns are inflexible. Experimental results on DNA sequences also validate this analysis.
