A ship built from ferromagnetic steel disturbs the uniformity of the Earth’s magnetic field. Changes of ship’s signature are due to the magneto-mechanical interaction of the hull with the Earth’s magnetic field. The ship’s magnetic field can be detected by a magnetic naval mine. For this reason, the vessel has to be demagnetized. There are several methods of ship’s de-perming. The results of experimental...
This paper presents computer simulations of ship's magnetic signatures. The influence of ship's inner ferromagnetic devices on the signature was presented. The magnetic fields of the ship's model were calculated in Opera 3D 18R2. The model was built from thin plates. The new, thin plate boundary condition [1] was introduced on all ship's surfaces.
This paper presents computer simulations of ship's deperming. The ferromagnetic-hulled ship or submarine develops a magnetic signature due to magneto-mechanical interaction with the Earth magnetic field. There are several methods of ship's deperming [1,2]. The deperming method with system of coils lying on the seabed is presented in this paper. The deperming process was calculated in Opera 3D 18R2.
