Fully-stabilized optical frequency combs from modelocked lasers are a key component in various applications like optical frequency metrology, optical clocks or ultra-stable microwave generation. The traditional approach to stabilize the carrier-envelope offset (CEO) frequency /ceo in a diode-pumped modelocked laser is via a modulation of the pump current, i.e., by modulating the gain of the modelocked...
We show the first absolute optical frequency metrology demonstration performed with an OPO. The OPO frequency comb shows ∼300-mrad integrated CEO phase noise and ∼70-kHz optical linewidth at 1557-nm when fully-stabilized to a radio-frequency reference.
Presented is an optically pumped modelocked integrated externalcavity surface emitting laser (MIXSEL) with a pulse repetition rate of 10 GHz, generating picosecond pulses at 2.4 W average output power at a centre wavelength of 963 nm. The MIXSEL structure integrates both the absorber and the gain layers within the same wafer. The saturable absorber is a single layer of self-assembled InAs quantum...
In this paper, we demonstrate for the first time the detailed experimental verification of this quasi-soliton pulse formation theory in passively mode-locked VECSELs. We show that the achievable pulse duration strongly depends on the group delay dispersion (GDD), and that it is important to provide positive overall intracavity GDD for achieving short pulse durations.
