Purpose Percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). It is generally considered that there is little blood loss during the surgery. However, a significant perioperative hidden blood loss (HBL) is neglected. This study was to examine the amount of HBL and determine the influential factors during PKP. Methods...
This paper presents a highly sensitive and in-line temperature fiber sensor based on Mach–Zehnder interferometer with material overlay. The sensor is constructed using a section of single-mode fiber sandwiched between a no-core fiber and a waist-enlarged taper and immersed in a material with high thermo-optic coefficient. The experimental results indicated that a high temperature sensitivity of 0...
A dispersion compensating photonic crystal fiber (DCPCF) with ultra-high chromatic dispersion coefficient and extremely low confinement loss based on a hybrid structure of dual-concentric core photonic crystal fiber (DCC-PCF), and depressed-clad photonic crystal fiber (DeC-PCF), is theoretically investigated. To enhance the performances with regard to dispersion and confinement loss of the proposed...
We propose a dispersion compensation photonic crystal fiber (DCC-PCF) with ultra-high chromatic dispersion coefficient (D) and extremely low loss (LC). The numeric results reveal that the D≈−70790ps/km-nm and LC≈6.54×10−4dB/km at a wavelength of 1.55µm. Moreover, it is worth to emphasize that the proposed structure has an advantage of easy fabrication.
