In this paper we present the impact of femtocell underlay deployment sharing same radio frequency resources with urban macro-cell in terms of throughput performance of enodeBs in the presence of inter cell interference that a femto base station environment adds to users served by enodeBs and vice versa. The performance of the two systems, one with femto base station indoor deployment for indoor users...
VoIP has emerged from the advancements and revolutions in packet-based networks and has seen tremendous improvements over the years. Normally there are two approaches to the implementation of VoIP, one in the form of soft phone and other in the form of dedicated IP phone. In this paper we describe a new scheme to the implementation of VoIP which is different from both of these two approaches in that...
Notice of Violation of IEEE Publication Principles"Radiation Emission EMC Measurement in Real-Time"by F.G. Awan, N.M. Sheikh, M. Fawadin the Proceedings of the Information Technology: Sixth International Conference on New Generations, ITNG '09, pp.528-533, April 2009After careful and considered review of the content and authorship of this paper by a duly constituted expert committee, this...
We have investigated the scattering of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) RF electromagnetic field by implants for vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy using the finite element method to perform full 3-D realistic simulations. For an implanted VNS lead, we calculated the RF scattered field and the heat equation was solved using an FEM tool to find the temperature rise. Current distributions in...
Variability of the tissue in which implant is embedded and the length of the bare part of the implants were studied with regard to MRI-related heating. The implants studied were thin and elongated with different effective resonant lengths. We compare two leads having different lengths of bare portions to investigate the heating effect. To support our conclusions, we compare the leads based on current...
Shortage of energy is dangerously affecting the economic growth of the developing countries. Oil, gas and coal reserves are being depleted rapidly and are affecting the environment. Embargo and safety requirements limit the development of nuclear energy. Renewable energy resources need to be embedded with the conventional generation. A lot has been said and done on solar energy. However emphasis has...
This paper proposes a high efficiency solid state welder used for induction welding. The cause of low efficiency of the welder is the switching losses in the inverter section because of high switching frequency of the power devices. The efficiency of this part is improved by using the soft switching technique known as zero current switching. Using this technique the other performance parameters are...
This paper presents a generic model for identification of Radiation energy in open area-test site (OATS) with noisy environment. This model incorporates important effects including, interdependency of direction of propagation of radiated energy, precision of transducers and noise profiles. We propose a statistical based model to measure radiated Electromagnetic Interference in OATS environment for...
During the acquisition of image data in X-ray CT scanner, the motion of patient degrades the image quality and can lead to erroneous diagnosis. We developed a technique to remove the artefacts due to head motion during brain CT scanning. The motion of head was modelled as rigid body motion. We simulated the CT data of a moving phantom and recorded the motion information. The motion information was...
In this paper we present a dynamic spectrum management (DSM) Level-2 algorithm based on centralized power control and crosstalk cancellation for multiuser digital subscriber line (DSL) systems with heavily unbalanced crosstalk channels. This algorithm combines two approaches: crosstalk cancellation and crosstalk suppression to combat crosstalk degradation effects. Our algorithm performs crosstalk...
An efficient design of an interleaver is essential to achieve near Shannon capacity performance with turbo codes. The turbo code performance curve can change its slope in low bit error rate (BER) region, if the interleaver is not designed properly. In this paper the design of an interleaver that combines randomization and de-correlation property with regular permutation, and yet guaranties an enlarged...
A 128 state 4D TCM code for ADSL assuming AWGN is analyzed. The performance is compared with 16 state (3, 2, 5) linear 4D code developed by L. F. Wei [1]. Simulation shows an improvement of 20% in spectral efficiency. We have also analyzed 8-DMT symbol based decoding for Wei's code 16 state (3, 2, 5) in up stream direction and achieved .9 db gain.
The quality of VoIP is highly degraded by network dynamics like congestion of links, routing delays, packet loses etc. By changing the source-encoding rate adaptively with network dynamics, a much better end-to-end quality of service can be achieved. This paper discusses some already existing techniques for source rate control, highlighting their limitations and presents a recursive algorithm which...
This paper assesses VoIP quality over access networks in Pakistan using a delay jitter measurement methodology for evaluating the perceptual quality of voice calls using the ITU-T G.107 speech quality E-model. Passive measurements for voice calls in the presence of background Internet data traffic for G.723.1 and G.729a codecs are carried out using a non-intrusive parametric model. The R-factor and...
In modern digital subscriber line (DSL) systems where multiple users coexist in the same frequency band, multiuser power control is an effective technique for reducing crosstalk interference and improving total system throughput. This paper considers the rate and power control problem in a frequency selective interference channel. The objective of the rate and power control is to maximize the achievable...
This paper presents a simplified BLAST (Bell-Laboratories Layered Space Time Systems) architecture which is capable of achieving low BERs at very low SNRs thus resulting in high spectral efficiencies and higher data rates
Echo cancellation technique enables full duplex transmission using the same transmission band and thereby increases the aggregate data throughput of a channel. This tutorial paper introduces high speed echo cancellation for Full Rate (ITU-T Recommendation G.992.1) and Splitterless (ITU-T Recommendation G.992.2, aliased G.Lite) ADSL Transceivers. Symmetric and multirate Asymmetric echo cancellation...
