Hall thruster is a sort of electric propulsion and has been studied in many research institutes. In the design process of Hall thruster, a numerical simulation called Full-PIC (Particle-In-Cell) method is used. Although this simulation provides high accurate result, it is known as a very time consuming job. In this paper, we present a study of acceleration of Full-PIC simulation on a CPU-FPGA tightly...
A software/hardware co-design system for a Trax solver is proposed. Implementation of Trax AI is challenging due to its complicated rules, so we adopted an embedded system called Zynq (Zynq-7000 AP SoC) and introduced a High Level Synthesis (HLS) design. We also added Deep Q-Network, a machine learning algorithm, to the system for use as an evaluation function. Our solver automatically optimizes its...
This paper presents a software and hardware design of an FPGA-based Blokus Duo solver. We used Embedded system called ZYNQ-7000 All Programmable SoC to implement the solver. By combining hardware with software, efficient acceleration is performed. Our system searches a game tree by using the miniMax algorithm with alpha-beta pruning. The implemented solver works at 75MHz with Xilinx Zynq-7000 AP SoC...
This paper presents a design of an FPGA-based Blokus Duo solver. It searches a game tree by using the miniMax algorithm with alpha-beta pruning and move ordering. In addition, HLS tool called CyberWorkBench (CWB) is used to implement hardware. By making the use of functions in CWB, parallel fully pipelined design is generated. The implemented solver works at 100MHz with Xilinx Spartan-6 XC6SLX45 FPGA...
Development of Hall thrusters for nano, small and low-power satellites below 100W is expected. In lowering Hall thruster power, the cylindrical-type Hall thruster is more advantage than conventional coaxial-type Hall thrusters. In this study, a very low power cylindrical Hall thruster was designed, and the thruster performance was measured. As a result, a stable operation was achieved even with 10W...
High-power and high-specific-impulse characteristics of Hall thrusters were experimentally studied. Input power and specific impulse reached above 5 kW and 3000 sec, respectively. As a result, the specific impulse and the thrust efficiency were 3202 sec and 61 %, respectively, with 2.8 kW. Discharge current oscillation also increased by raising discharge voltage.
