A bit and power allocation algorithm is proposed to maximizing the throughput given the total power and target bit error rate (BER). Because closed form expressions can be derived, the algorithm is of very low complexity, lower than the algorithms proposed by Krongold and Alexander. Furthermore the algorithm can achieve faster throughput than Krongold's and Alexander's algorithms.
To improve the performance of view-based three-dimensional object recognition system, we propose to extract multiple features from the 2D images of 3D objects, including texture characteristics, color moments, Hupsilas moment invariants, and affine moment invariants. Texture characteristics and color moments are used to distinguish objects of similar shape and different appearance. Hupsilas moment...
To improve the performance of appearance-based three-dimensional object recognition system, we propose to extract Hupsilas moment invariants, affine moment invariants and color moments from the 2D images of 3D objects. Hupsilas and affine moment invariants have the properties of rotation, scale, translation invariance and affine transformation invariance respectively for the objects in images, and...
Cyclostationarity is an important characteristic of signals. The orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is cyclostationary. Explicit formulas for the spectral correlation density (SCD) for OFDM signal are derived. To illustrate the spectral correlation characteristics of OFDM signal, the magnitudes of the spectral correlation functions are graphed in graphical terms as the heights...
A novel method of broadband robust adaptive beamforming is proposed in this paper to deal with the signal cancellation caused by correlated interferences and DOA uncertainties. To achieve this goal, the classic techniques of spectral averaging and diagonal loading are integrated into the beamforming, with the former aiming at decorrelation and the latter at robustness against DOA uncertainties. Moreover,...
To classical wideband focusing DOA estimation algorithm, an initial estimate of the DOA's and several iterations are required, and the performance of real time is bad. A speech source 3D localization algorithm based on wideband focusing theory is presented in this paper, and it doesn't require initial estimations and iterations. The optimal criterion of this algorithm is the MMSE, i.e. the minimized...
In this paper a novel approach for speech separation using microphone arrays is presented. It belongs to the class of deterministic blind beamforming (DBBF) approaches via rotational invariance techniques. Since speech should be considered as broadband sources in microphone array related applications, the conventional narrowband DBBF is extended to broadband cases in this paper. Utilizing the nonstationarity...
In this paper the robust adaptive beamforming (RABF) based on worst-case performance optimization is investigated. This method belongs to the class of diagonal loading approaches and determines the loading level by optimizing the worst-case performance. Other than solving the optimal loading by iteration, as many existing methods in this field did, we derive a simple closed-form solution to the optimal...
