We present results for the production and characterization of structural modifications of composites containing elongated silver nanoparticles embedded in silica, using femtosecond laser pulses. Direct writing of patterns in such composites was achieved using a scanning nonlinear optical microscopy system. Writing was achieved by running the laser at high pulse energy, and characterization was performed...
We present results for the induction and monitoring of structural modification of a composite consisting of elongated silver nanoparticles films embedded in silica using ultrafast femtosecond laser irradiation and second harmonic generation imaging, respectively. Waveguide-like patterns are written and characterized under a laser scanning nonlinear microscope system by simply changing the laser fluence...
We study the generation of photon pairs by spontaneous four-wave mixing in microstructured optical fibers. We show that it is possible to engineer states with specific spectral entanglement properties suitable for quantum information processing applications.
