In this paper, a novel low complexity receiver concept for high-order differential phase demodulation is introduced for the first time. With a first hardware demonstrator, a high data rate of 300 Mbit/s is achieved without requiring a synthesizer for downconversion. A phase sensitive regenerative sampling approach is employed that integrates both low noise amplifier and automatic gain control using...
Recently, a novel ultra-wideband (UWB) local positioning concept based on pulsed frequency modulated (PFM) signals was introduced. The current paper presents a detailed analysis of the performance of the proposed PFM-UWB approach. It is shown that with PFM-UWB an excellent coverage / range can be achieved when a VCO with good phase-noise performance is used. By simulations and measurements the theoretical...
This paper describes a VCO with 30% tuning range and integrated output switch, used for the generation of pulsed ultra-wideband signals in an FMCW radar system. The system concept is shown. The VCO with switch has an unmatched single-endedly measured output power of -21 dBm over the whole tuning range of 6.4 GHz to 8.6 GHz with a total of 31.8 mA bias current consumption.
An integrated differential common collector Colpitts VCO with a wide tuning range is presented in this paper. The circuit was designed and fabricated in the IHP Technologies SGB25V 250nm SiGe:C BiCMOS process. It provides a superior low phase noise performance of -115 dBc/Hz covering the frequency range of 6.7 to 8.7 GHz for UWB pulsed frequency modulated secondary radar application. An additional...
Abstract. In order to target 17-estradiol directly at bone we synthesized three 17-estradiol-bisphosphonate conjugates (E2-BPs) with different esterase-sensitive linkers between both molecular moieties. The systemic administration of these compounds should result primarily in local estrogenic effects on bone with no or negligible systemic hormonal effects. Only if a considerable margin exists between...
Estrogens are currently the first choice in the treatment of osteoporosis. Nevertheless, a lot of patients refuse them due to several reasons such as fear of cancer or others. In order to target estrogen directly to bone we tested several E 2 -BPs with different esterase-sensitive spacers for their local and systemic effects in vivo. Two E 2 -BPs expressing different serum cleavage...
Bisphosphonates are a class of potent therapeutic agents for various diseases of bone and calcium metabolism. However, the retention time of bisphosphonates in bone is several years and concerns have been expressed as to their possible long-term toxicological effects. Therefore, we have developed a new class of inhibitors of bone resorption designed to bind to bone mineral with high affinity but which...
It is generally accepted that a reduction in estrogen levels is the primary cause of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The prevention of bone loss by hormon replacement therapy with estrogens is the treatment of choice and attributed to a direct effect of estrogen on bone. Consequently, the selective delivery of estrogen to bone tissue should decrease side effects associated with estrogen therapy, both...
