We report a compact and robust cavity design for generating high-order random Raman fiber lasing. A pump combiner and broadband reflector are used to form forward pumping, providing a promising way to increase the output power significantly.
We present an optofluidic chip for the trapping and separation of single gold nanoparticles (60–100 nm). Size and refractive index of a gold nanoparticle are determined by the trapping position using Drude and Mie theories.
In this paper, the energy conservation law in physics is introduced into the control prototype of boost converters. Firstly, the input and output energy and the energy changes in the reactive components in each switching cycle are analysed. Then an energy balance control (EBC) method is designed based on the energy conservation law, which is independent of converter work modes, continuous conduction...
Ischemic stroke causes brain infarction and neurological deficits. Along with these pathological changes, ischemic stroke also activates neuroprotective mechanisms that mitigate brain injury. It has long been recognized that the ischemic brain can upregulate neuroprotective genes to support neuronal survival. The present investigation demonstrated that, in addition to the ischemic brain, the liver...
Nb5N6 bolometer is a high sensitive terahertz detector at room temperature. The core part of traditional Nb5N6 bolometer is microbridge with a typical size of 3 μm × 12 μm. We have recently proposed a method using electron beam lithography (EBL) instead of UV lithography on fabrication of Nb5N6 micro bridge, which will reduce the size of the micro-bridge one to two orders of magnitude, the minimum...
Some of terahertz detectors such as high temperature superconducting (HTS) YBa2Cu2Ox (YBCO) Josephson junction mixer are suffering from impedance mismatching problem with antenna where the junction impedance barely reaches several ohms. This paper presents two impedance matching methods based on impedance-wideband bow-tie antennas. First, a quarter of wavelength impedance matching network is proposed...
We design a T-shape structure reflecting mirror covered a gold thin film on the high-resistivity silicon substrate (ρ=1000 Ω·Cm) for the detector array. The electric field distribution of the T-shape structure is simulated by using finite difference time domain (FDTD) solutions in the frequency range from 300 GHz to 400 GHz. The electric field can be gathered in the central area of the silicon substrate...
Terahertz (THz) direct detectors based on superconducting niobium nitride (NbN) hot electron bolometers (HEBs) with microwave (MW) injection have been studied. Compared to the thermal biasing method, the injected MW is used here to bias the HEB to the optimum point. MW can be expected to be used as the easy read out for the detecting array. The used NbN HEB has an excellent performance as heterodyne...
A new high-speed 1300nm directly modulated DFB laser with high power has been demonstrated. With low parasitic capacitance of coplanar electrodes, 25mW has been obtained in a long waveguide, while maintaining high-speed performance. 50Gb/s PAM-4 modulation over 35km transmission without amplification has been realized with low degradation.
Forward phase-matched Brillouin optomechanical resonance, excited by a tapered fiber, in a graphene inner-deposited whispering-gallery-mode microfluidic cavity, is demonstrated for the first time. The generated Brillouin optomechanical modes with Q factor ∼ 47000 show extremely high sensitivity (200kHz/ppm) for absolute gas detection based on frequency variation, achieving a detection limit down to...
In this work, we demonstrate a new concept for realizing high threshold voltage (Vth) E-mode GaN power devices with high maximum drain current (ID, max). A gate stack ferroelectric blocking film with charge trap layer, achieved a large positive shift of Vth. The E-mode GaN MIS-HEMTs with high Vth of 6 V shows ID, max 720 mA/mm. The breakdown voltage is above 1100 V.
The uniqueness of the ITER fusion project drives purpose and scope here to fulfil (functional) Procurement Arrangement (PA) requirements for the Central Solenoid (CS) and Correction Coil (CC) magnets' electrical insulation [1–3]; as used and undertaken for covering high voltage testing operations of the magnet coil winding pack (WP) vacuum pressure insulation (VPI) beam qualification, followed in...
We demonstrate a novel way to control the coupling rate in coupled ring resonators by controlling the relative position of the nanowires between the two cavities to modulate the resonance frequencies. A new system is presented and experimental results show that by tuning the coupling rate, the coupled ring resonators can be stimulated at the same time due to the same resonance frequency. This study...
State-of-the-art silicon interposer technology of chip-on-wafer-on-substrate (CoWoS®) has been applied for the first time in fabricating high performance wafer level system-in-package (WLSiP) containing the 2nd-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM2). An ultra-large Si interposer up to 1200 mm2 made by a two-mask stitching process is used to form the basis of the 2nd-generation CoWoS® (CoWoS®-2) to...
A novel graphene biosensor based on self-assembly protein film modified graphene targeting biomolecules is presented in this literature. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) molecules in inorganic solution are self-assembled and aggregated on the graphene surface uniformly with the driving of heating for the first time. Atomic force microscope (AFM) and Raman spectra are used to investigate denatured BSA modified...
Disaggregation of both packet and optical networks is driving innovation in transport networks. We demonstrate a proof of concept and detail our plans for a field trial in a major service provider.
This paper proposes a robust H∞ controller based on Multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGAs) to control the active magnetic bearings (AMBs) with application to superfluid helium cryogenic centrifugal compressor (CCC). Basic weighting function formulas with seven parameters in all are suggested for H∞ controller, whose physical connections with system performance are clearly explained. Weighting...
A novel broadband light source based on supercontinuum (SC) generation seeded by random distributed feedback fiber laser (RFL) is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. A half-opened fiber cavity formed by FBG and TrueWave fiber is used to generate random lasing and SC simultaneously. Experimental results indicate that RFL can be used as an effective pump for generation of SC. SC with 20-dB...
We report a low threshold, high efficiency random fiber laser with hybrid Erbium-Raman gain. The numerical analysis is made to describe the power performance of the proposed Erbium-Raman random fiber laser and reveal the high efficiency generation in this simple configuration. Thanks to the hybrid gain, the experimentally achieved laser threshold has been reduced to 60 mW. The optical conversion efficiency...
