The objective of this study was to explore whether ketamine prevents or exacerbates acute or post‐traumatic stress disorders in military trauma patients. We conducted a retrospective study of a database from the French Military Health Service, including all soldiers surviving a war injury in Afghanistan (2010–2012). The diagnosis of post‐traumatic stress disorder was made by a psychiatrist and patients...
We experimentally demonstrate a FDMA-PON system targeting 20 Gbps per wavelength in the upstream, using a real-time FPGA-based transmitter and low-speed baseband DSP, and 39 Gbps in the downstream using a new resources allocation algorithm with 11.5GHz electrical bandwidth, in the framework of the EU research project FABULOUS.
FDMA PON allows the ONU complexity and cost to be tailored to the service level targeted per customer while achieving high per wavelength throughput (35-39Gbps downlink). Initial progress towards an all Silicon ONU is presented.
This paper proposes a MIMO 2×2 solution to increase the capacity of HF radio links through the ionospheric channel. A diversity in the transmitted polarizations replaces the classical space diversity and authorizes a compact set up in a context of decametric wavelengths. After a theoretical step of capacity estimation, an HF 2×2 MIMO system has been designed and tested on a 280 km long radio link...
Military high frequency transmission standard STANAG 4538 defines the third generation automatic link establishment as well as their associated waveforms. This paper presents the simulated performance of the automatic repeat request scheme with code combining implemented in the standard. Results show a good efficiency for an SNR range from −6 dB up to 20 dB over a white additive Gaussian noise channel.
We report the performance of a chirped laser in IMDD-based transmissions and we show that the interplay between laser chirp and fiber dispersion can be very attractive for long distance PONs if adaptive OFDM modulation is used.
We compare the performances of IMDD AMOOFDM transmissions in both amplified and unamplified configurations for long distance PON networks with 1:32 and 1:64 split ratios. Up to 40 Gb/s bit rate has been demonstrated.
We experimentally demonstrate AMOOFDM transmissions at 11.5Gb/s over 513km uncompensated standard single mode fiber (SSMF) and 30Gb/s over 650km dispersion managed fiber (DMF) through intensity modulation and direct detection.
We experimentally demonstrate the feasibility of TDMA Adaptively Modulated Optical OFDM (TDMA-AMOOFDM) with two directly-modulated low-bandwidth VCSELs at 1310nm and an APD originally designed for continuous transmissions.
Experimental demonstration of a bit rate as high as 32 Gbit/s is achieved over 20 km SMF for NGPON in a temperature range of 5??C-60??C using AMOOFDM direct modulation of a linear laser.
Multi-band power allocation for NG-PON downlink transmission is experimentally demonstrated when implementing AMOOFDM with direct modulation of a linear laser. Multi-user power and bit-allocation allows the users datarates to be balanced according to a target QoS.
Agro-industry supply chains involving several stakeholders need coordination. Such systems, however, can be highly complex and may require a wide range of decision support. Models may be valuable when analysing complex supply chains, but are commonly specialised with little scope to evaluate a system holistically. Ideally, models with different specialised focus areas, such as a short-term logistics...
In this paper, we address the problem of the presence of spatial correlated noise in upstream coordinated DSL systems. The performance of a minimum mean-squared-error (MMSE) iterative receiver structure without whitening the noise is evaluated. A simplified MMSE receiver based on the approximation of matrix inversion in the iterative process is presented. The convergence of the iterative scheme in...
This paper investigates orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) resource-allocation schemes for two-hop relays in a home powerline communication (PLC) network. Unlike wireless channels, which can have noticeable path loss and shadow effects to bring a substantial relay gain, the powerline channel usually observes a quality of the relay channel on par with the direct link so that simple...
This paper aims at presenting the impact of the cyclic prefix (CP) length on the maximal achievable throughput for multicarrier modulations used in power line communications (PLC). The maximal throughputs including the interference caused by a channel impulse response length exceeding the cyclic prefix length are calculated and compared to simulation results. The statistical distribution of the optimal...
A bit rate as high as 19Gbit/s transmission was experimentally demonstrated for NG-PON without chromatic dispersion compensation by direct modulation of DFB laser using DMT signal combined with adaptive power-bit loading algorithm.
An OFDM transmission system is amplified through SOA or EDFA to provide an access network at 10Gbit/s with increased optical budgets. Bit-rate optimization and BER measurement characterize amplifier's behaviour with OFDM signals for access network.
We experimentally demonstrate the use of AMOOFDM format as a cost effective solution for colorless source WDM-PONs based on spectrally sliced ASE source (SLED, RSOA and pre-selected RSOA).
We demonstrated a Gigabit/s system for 1mm POF. Optimized Discrete Multi-tone Modulation techniques enabled 1 Gbit/s using LEDs, and 1.5 Gbit/s using VCSELs, a capability that encourages POF's use for next generation home networking.
Using Levin-Campello bit loading algorithm in DMT format to optimize communication link capacity, high bit rate transmission for NGPON is experimentally demonstrated by direct modulation of low bandwidth and low-cost commercially available lasers and receivers.
