Recommendation of media objects, such as audio and video clips, has been there for a while. Most user interfaces include a list of favourites or most popular media objects. On the other hand, recommendation of multimedia devices is limited to shopping websites. With the evolution of IoT, however, users these days are surrounded by many interconnected devices that can be used to accomplish the same...
The high-speed system and shrinkage in technology lead to more complexity with higher power dissipation. This paper presents the design, simulation and analysis of 6T, 7T and 8T SRAM cells. The analysis has been done for dynamic power, static power, rise time, fall time, delay, and bandwidth measurements for SRAM cells at gdpk180 technology. The Cadence Virtuoso tool is used for drawing schematic,...
We present a high power, single-frequency, continuously-tunable, singly-resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO) based on 80 mm-long MgO-doped PPLN crystal pumped by a continuous-wave Yb-fiber laser. Four-mirror SRO ring-cavity configuration is tunable in the mid-infrared from 3761–3970 nm as well as in near-IR from 1453–1484 nm.
We propose the design of refractive index sensor using hybrid-modes formed due to coupling of Tamm-plasmon-polaritons (TPP) and cavity mode in Ta2O5/SiO2 based distributed Bragg-reflectors (DBR). The cavity mode sensitivity varied from 180 nm/RIU to 310 nm/RIU while the sensitivity of low frequency hybrid TPP mode varied from 70 nm/RIU to 210 nm/RIU.
We present a study on the realization of Tamm Plasmon-polariton in the metal deposited Fibonacci sequence based distributed Bragg reflector. All the simulated results are compared with the regular “DBR-matal” structure constructed with the same materials.
In the present work, we have analyzed the effects of dicode coding in a passive optical network based on both wavelength and time division multiplexing (WDM-TDM-PON). By numerical analysis, we observed that network using dicode coding is more tolerant to Group Velocity Dispersion (GVD) as compared to traditional Non-return to zero - on-offkeying(NRZOOK) coding. Dispersion degrades the sensitivity...
In recent years, use of Augmented Reality (AR) has been explored in a wide range of applications in various fields. Among these, one of the most inquired is the field of education. Many of these studies have shown that the use of AR in any learning environment promotes critical thinking, better understanding and motivates the learner for further studies. This is due to the real-time experience that...
This work presents a front-end a novel boost power factor converter for on-board plug-in electric vehicle battery charger. The converter has lower passive components size such as inductor and EMI filter. In addition, low switch stress and higher efficiency can be expected. As a result, the size of charger, charging time and cost of electricity is minimized. In addition, a detailed current stress model...
This article presents a dual band metamaterial absorber suitable for applications over the WLAN and Wi-MAX frequencies on a metal-backed FR-4 Epoxy substrate utilizing a novel I-shaped unit cell structure for the design. The component shows dual band absorption at frequencies 3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz respectively with 100% absorption of the incident signal at both the points of observation. The component...
A dual-band dual-polarized CPW-fed slot antenna for WLAN applications is presented. The antenna shows two resonant dips at 3.56 GHz and 5.12 GHz. For the WLAN band (3.6 GHz) the antenna shows a circularly polarized behavior, whereas in case of the other band it is acting as a linearly polarized component. The design geometry consists of a CPW-fed thin slot structure with an LC complimentary resonator...
In a diverse country like India, gated communities, corporate premises and university campuses witness a lot of unfamiliar vehicles with number plates in different formats, fonts, font sizes and sometimes even in various languages which enter and leave the estate every day, and it is difficult to register the vehicle numbers manually even for a multi-lingual person. This document aims to extract image...
Photovoltaic industries are striving to meet the modern day's energy demand. Dust and Pollution affects electrical performances and reduces the life of PV module. Over a long process of time dust and debris accumulates and blocks the total solar radiation entering inside the panel. As a result of which efficiency of the module decreases. Even snow and ice deposition on Photovoltaic module reduces...
This paper presents a new single switched non-isolated boost converter which can be implemented with modular solar PV panel. The operational principle is analyzed in CCM and DCM modes. The suitability of proposed scheme is well demonstrated through simulation results using PSIM 9.1.1 with a practicality of input voltage of 24 V. Output voltage ranges from 300 V to 350 V which makes it suitable to...
In this paper study on a photovoltaic system done with a developed simulation model consisting of a maximum power point tracker is presented. The characteristics of the developed model were compared with commercially available PV module after simulation under different radiation and temperature conditions. For extracting the maximum power from the Photovoltaic array, a Perturbation and Observation...
Downlink/Uplink decoupling (DUDe) in LTE networks has caught the attention of researchers as it provides better uplink SINR and reduced power consumption per device due to decoupled connection of a device with the Macro (in downlink) and a small cell (in uplink). These characteristics of DUDe can be exploited to encourage more D2D communications in the network. This paper first proposes a model to...
eResources are becoming more popular in various field particularly in distance education system as well as in agriculture field. The paper presents the use of eResources in agriculture for protection of maize varieties and selecting the most similar varieties for testing the new inbred/hybrid /composite in maize. To identify similar maize variety and inbred, an eResource has been evolved on ‘DUS Characterization...
LPG cylinders have become an integral part of every home. Our kitchens are occupied with LPG cylinders which help us make delicious food. But it can be dangerous and life threatening. Therefore, it requires constant vigilance to reduce the danger. The aim of this paper is to design a safety oriented system which will alert the user about any threat in the kitchen through mobile and also capable of...
Data collision in a channel leads to channel synchronization problem, which may arise due to the existence of hidden terminal node. CSMA, TDMA, ALOHA and many more protocols provide help to channel synchronization. Semaphore is a tool which deals with synchronization problem and can be used to provide channel synchronization in a communication link. In this paper a hybrid CSMA/CA-Semaphore approach...
Breast cancer is one of the most incurable diseases, which leads to the death of women globally every year. For early detection of a tumor in the breast, a basic technique called ‘Mammography’ is used, which is an x-ray analysis of breast. This work emphasizes on the proper selection of denoising techniques for the mammographic images. To achieve the objective of this work, exhaustive experiments...
Restructuring and competition are being introduced into the electric power industry as deregulation takes place throughout the world. In the competitive electricity markets, the electricity producers come across fundamental problems of bidding into the market to maximize their expected profits. Generally bi-level bidding strategy is used to maximize the profit and to minimize the market clearing function...
