We propose a new technique for femtosecond pulse characterization — transient-grating self-referenced spectral interferometry. Using this technique, we built an extremely simple, alignment-free device and successfully sub-two-cycle 10-fs pulses at 1.75 μm.
We report on fabrication of ultra-high-Q (∼106) whispering gallery microcavities on a fused silica chip using a femtosecond laser, enabled by the high spatial resolution and three-dimensional nature of femtosecond laser direct writing.
We present our results on optical to microwave frequency division by fiber-based optical frequency combs. The phase noise added by the division process is characterized and several noise reduction strategies are demonstrated. We reach -123dBc/Hz at 1Hz from a 11.55GHz carrier and about -130dBc/Hz above 200Hz Fourier frequency. The fractional frequency stability scales as 1.1×10-16τ-1T where t is the...
Photonic crystal filaments were demonstrated with noncollinear filaments interaction, resulting in elongated filaments and third harmonic generation of more than two orders enhancement as compared with that from a single filament.
