A multiple-layer-overlay (MLO) modulation format is employed for a 14-km optical fiber link and an enhanced spectral efficiency of 2.36 bits/s/Hz is achieved by multiplexing 3-layer signals with each layer carrying a 2-Gbit/s QPSK signal.
We demonstrate a scheme that can arbitrarily manipulate the orbital-angular-momentum (OAM) and the polarization of each data channel in an OAM- and polarization-multiplexed communication system. A manipulation-induced power penalty of < 1dB is observed when 100 Gbit/s Quadrature-phase-shift-keying data is carried on each channel.
We demonstrate OAM-based reconfigurable optical switching functions among multiple OAM modes. Three-pair OAM modes exchange shows 3.6-dB conversion efficiency and selective data exchange among three 100-Gb/s QPSK OAM channels has a 2.1-dB OSNR penalty.
We experimentally demonstrate the add/drop multiplexer for two orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes carrying 100-Gbit/s RZ-QPSK channels. An OSNR penalty of < 1.6 dB for added and dropped channels is observed.
We demonstrate all-optical sub-channel data erasing/updating based on cascaded sum-and difference-frequency generation in a single PPLN waveguide. OSNR penalty of 2-dB for RZ and 4-dB for NRZ at a BER of 2e-3 are achieved.
We experimentally demonstrate optical multiplexing of two 20-Gbit/s QPSK channels at different wavelengths onto a single 40-Gbit/s star 16-QAM channel with tunable ring ratio using cascaded fiber-based nonlinear stages. The impact of QPSK channel spacing is also investigated. BER measurements confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
Space-time trellis code (STTC) has been widely applied to coded multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems because of its gains in coding and diversity; however, its great decoding complexity makes it less promising in chip realization compared to the space-time block code (STBC). The complexity of STTC decoding lies in the branch metric calculation in the Viterbi algorithm and increases significantly...
In this paper we proposed a scheme based on the mono-direction operation of phase modulator to generate millimeter wave with PSK modulation. The generated PSK signal can be demodulated as easy as ASK through an electrical mixer. In addition, an approach to implement full-duplex operation in ROF system based on a half-reflective FBG was also proposed and experimentally demonstrated.
