A novel polarization splitter based on dual-core silica glass photonic crystal fiber with a liquid crystal modulation core is studied by the finite-element method. The mode birefringence is enlarged greatly with the infilling of nematic liquid crystal of E7. The simulation results demonstrate that the polarization splitter has an ultrabroad bandwidth of 250 nm, covering the E S C L optical communication...
The talk will present the design of a silicon microsystem that utilizes photonic interconnects to enable a highly compact supercomputer-scale system. Recent progress in dense, wavelength-division multiplexed, low-power silicon photonic interconnect components will be reviewed.
The development in the field of RF and baseband (BB) integration in nanoscale CMOS technology for cellular systems over the last recent years has shown significant progress. The successful integration of the RF transceiver with digital baseband processor enables mobile phone manufacturer to build ultra-low cost phones for GSM/GPRS in CMOS technology. This trend towards continuous system integration...
Discussed are enabling biophotonic technologies that provide in-vivo like information earlier in drug discovery. The development of resonant waveguide sensor based high-throughput screening platform and utilization for studying signaling in cells will be described.
