Mary Ann Clawson is Professor of Sociology at Wesleyan University. Her past research has focused on gender and popular culture, with a particular interest in masculinity in the contexts of nineteenth-century fraternal orders, contemporary rock music, and the emergence of consumer cultures. She is currently studying left social movements in the 1970s United States.
