Broadband-pulses are amplified to 63 J and compressed to 30 fs. A peak intensity of 1022 W/cm2 by focusing a 0.3 PW laser beam with an f/1.4 off-axis parabolic mirror is achievable on target.
We report on a high-contrast, high-intensity Ti:sapphire chirped-pulse amplification system that incorporates a nonlinear preamplifier based on optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification (OPCPA). Chirped-pulses are amplified to 63 J at 0.1 Hz and compressed down to 30 fs. The temporal contrast is better than 3 × 10−12 on the sub-nanosecond timescale. A peak intensity of W/cm2 on target is reached...
We modelock and stabilize the carrier-envelope-offset frequency of an Er:Yb:glass laser with a monolithic device consisting of graphene modulator and SESAM. Residual phase noise of 17 mrads, from 100 Hz to 1 MHz, is achieved.
We describe recent advances on the J-KAREN laser upgrade to provide an intensity capacity surpassing 1022 W/cm2 at 0.1 Hz. The present high-spatiotemporal quality pulses of 20 J will be amplified in an additional amplifier.
Widespread interconnection of Photovoltaic (PV) systems in the distribution system may create voltage rise problem. In this paper, a decentralized voltage control method by use of voltage regulators (VRs) and demand side management using consumer controllable load has been proposed for voltage rise compensation. The proposed method includes a novel determination method to find dynamic line drop compensation...
A low-power 2Mb ReRAM macro was developed in 90 nm CMOS platform, demonstrating lower power data-writing (x1/7) and faster data-reading (x2∼3) as compared to a conventional flash. The memory window at −6σ for 10 years was confirmed with a high-speed 1-bit ECC considering operating temperature ranging from −40 to 85 °C, where the worst conditions are high-temperature (85°C) “Off” writing and low-temperature...

Dynamic operation of voltage regulator (VR) has been proposed for voltage regulation in a distribution system with large integration of distributed generators (DGs). In conventional voltage control, VR's tap operation is adjusted based on the local bus voltage or voltage at load center. When considerable DGs are interconnected, voltage profile and power flow are not same as that of with conventional...
An electric-powered hand orthosis has been developed to support daily activities of people with motor impairment in hand fingers. This system is composed of an orthotic part, a head-mounted interface to detect user's commands, and a controller. One major feature of this system is that the orthotic part is basically made of soft and lightweight materials only. It is expected that this feature allows...
In human gait locomotion analysis, which is one useful method for efficient physical rehabilitation to define various quantitative evaluation indices, ground reaction force, joint angle and joint loads are measured during gait. On the other hand, the analysis of the correlation in the recorded joint motion extracts a few simultaneously activating segmental coordination patterns, and the structure...
Enhanced current drivability of BEOL-process-compatible dual-oxide complementary BEOL-FETs on LSI-interconnects (Fig. 1) with just two additional masks to the state-of-the-art BEOL process is demonstrated, aiming at high-Vbd pre-driver operation. We have developed processes so that IGZO-based NFETs have lower ARon as compared to currently available Si power devices (Fig. 6). We also developed new...
Most of the aged high-voltage (HV) power capacitors are the oil-immersed paper capacitors in Japan. Hence, it is necessary to establish an on-site partial-discharge (PD) diagnosis of the oil-immersed paper capacitors. The capacitance of the capacitors is very large, so it is difficult to apply HVAC to the capacitors. Therefore, it is difficult to perform the PD measurements of the capacitors. These...
In situ environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM) observation was used to reveal Sn inside Sn-filled carbon nanofibers (CNFs) during heating. Before and during heating, the Sn was covered completely by CNFs. The volume of Sn present in the Sn-filled CNFs gradually decreased during heating, with new Sn particles appearing at the top of the Sn-filled CNFs. It is thought that Sn diffused...
High-order harmonics of a Ti:sapphire drive laser were observed when the laser pulse was incident on a He gas-jet target at the relativistic intensity. Both the forward and off axis spectra shows the resolved harmonics.
A model-base prediction method is proposed for delamination/cracking failures in Low-k/Cu interconnects with Pb-free FCBGA (Flip Chip-Ball Grid Array). The low-k failure under the solder bump, so called as a white bump (WB) failure, is caused by large thermal stress to a brittle low-k film during the cooling process from high reflow temperature for the Pb-free solder. Based on failure analysis using...
Single-shot detection of terahertz electric waveforms generated from laser-induced air plasma was demonstrated using an echelon mirror. The obtained waveforms have a good signal-to-noise ratio, which is feasible for single-shot terahertz spectroscopy of materials.
We measured high-resolution spectra of high-order harmonics generated in the interaction of relativistic-irradiance (>1018 W/cm2) multi-terawatt femtosecond lasers with gas jets. The spectra exhibit very fine structures on the sub-eV scale, indicating temporal coherence of a few tens of femtoseconds.
The reliability of high performance Field-PMOS FET with thick gate oxide was improved. By reducing the amount of charge in the insulating film, RESURF effect was well performed in the drift region to obtain BVDSS over 350 V. Gate oxide breakdown voltage was found to decreas at AC high slew rate, and its reduction was suppressed with the fluorine termination. NBTI shift was also reduced within 15 %...
A BEOL-process-compatible, high-voltage complementary MISFET inverter formed on Si-LSI Cu-interconnects (hereafter we call BEOL-CMOS, Fig. 1), is presented for the first time. High Ion/Ioff ratio N-type IGZO and P-type SnO dual oxide semiconductor channels are integrated to form BEOL-CMOS logic with just two mask addition to the state-of-the-art BEOL process (Figs. 2 and 3). BEOL-CMOS flow is developed...
