This paper presents investigations on a radar sensor concept tailored for bird observation in direct proximity of wind turbines. The task is to monitor birds which live in the surrounding of a wind farm in order to stop concerned wind turbines in case of probable collisions. Experiments were performed leading to a proper characterization of the dynamic radar echoes of birds and wind turbines. A concept...
The NATO SET-225 Research Group is planning a series of live trials of Noise Radar technology to be performed in summer, 2016 at the Fraunhofer FHR Institute in Wachtberg (near Bonn). The preliminary architecture of the Demonstrator to be used in these trials is described starting from aims and requirements and arriving to define the main system functions, the parameters and the signal processor....
In this article we present the realization of an experimental multistatic inverse synthetic aperture radar (M-ISAR) system. The primary focus of this work is to utilize the multistatic geometry to estimate the motion of a maneuvering ground target. We propose solutions to all experimental challenges that go along with such a setup, including hardware development, synchronization, and signal processing...
In this paper we present a multistatic autofocussing approach, based on the optimization of the image contrasts in multiple received images. Other than monostatic algorithms, this method can not only estimate the range history of a target, but its full trajectory. Coherency of the received signal in different receivers is not required. The method is validated with experimental results.
