We propose to demonstrate and obtain community feedback on the RadioHound system, a custom spectrum sensing network capable of tuning from 25 MHz to 6 GHz, which covers nearly all widely-deployed wireless activity. We describe the system hardware and network infrastructure in detail with a view towards driving the cost, size, and power usage of the sensors as low as possible.
Antennas can couple if they are placed near each other, such as on portable wireless devices. Such coupling is often viewed as a nuisance that is a detriment to system performance. We show how coupling, if exploited properly, can lead to higher achievable data rates than an equivalent uncoupled system. Our conclusions build on some recent results on the bandwidth of coupled radiofrequency systems.
