We propose and demonstrate data exchange between two spatial modes carrying orbital-angular-momentum (OAM). Reconfigurable OAM exchange accompanied by 100-Gbit/s DQPSK data exchange is implemented. A total power penalty of less than 2.4 dB is observed at a BER of 1e-9.
Integrator leakage is a dominant factor in the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) loss of DeltaSigma modulators. In this paper, we propose a design-for-test (DfT) technique to diagnose the integrator leakage of the single-bit first-order DeltaSigma modulator. The proposed technique is a low-cost solution; it only adds two multiplexers to the modulator, utilizes a single DC voltage as the test stimulus, and...
We propose a compact silicon microring-based analog modulator for generation of 10-GHz sub-octave analog signals, which exhibit high optical modulation-index of up to 46% and carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) of 57 dB. In fiber transmission, the CNR can be improved further by 10 dB with chromatic dispersion.
A new programmable duty cycle corrector (PDCC) with variable duty cycle of output clock and synchronization of the input clock and output clock is proposed. Since the conventional pulse-width control circuits can adjust duty cycle but canpsilat synchronize the input and output clocks, the proposed PDCC uses a 2nd-order Delta-Sigma modulator to produce more several kinds of duty-cycle selection of...
We propose ultra-small silicon microring-based analog electro-optic modulators, which exhibit a better SFDR by 5-dB and higher modulation-index compared to MZMs. Third-harmonic-distortion is reduced by 10-dB in fiber transmission.
Two types of ultra-small silicon microring-based duobinary modulators are proposed and compared. Required drive voltage is as low as 0.77 volt. at 10 Gb/s. Extinction ratio is > 15 dB.
This paper investigates both transmultiplexer (TMUX) and analysis-synthesis filter banks where the two sides of the filter bank system are of different sizes. Such configurations find applications in filter bank based multicarrier communication systems on one hand and in fractionally-spaced frequency domain equalizers on the other. The errors due to mismatched filter banks are analyzed. Based on this...
