Shifts in technology can bring dramatic changes in the competitive positioning of an organization. On the one hand it provides opportunities to create new value propositions and thus opportunity to grow, but on the other hand it also threatens the existence of organizations that fail to grasp the scale and/or significance of given technological change. Technology intelligence and forecasting have...
Tracking and predicting quality and reliability is a major challenge in large and distributed software development projects. A number of standard distributions have been successfully used in reliability engineering theory and practice, common among these for modeling software defect inflow being exponential, Weibull, beta and Non-Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP). Although standard distribution models...
Machine learning algorithms are increasingly being used in a variety of application domains including software engineering. While their practical value have been outlined, demonstrated and highlighted in number of existing studies, their adoption in industry is still not widespread. The evaluations of machine learning algorithms in literature seem to focus on few attributes and mainly on predictive...
Software today provides an important and vital role in providing the functionality and user experience in automotive domain. With ever increasing size and complexity of software together with high demands on quality and dependability, managing software development process effectively is an important challenge. Methods of software defect predictions provide useful information for optimal resource allocation...
Digitalization of society has increased its pace during the last decade. With the introduction of modern technologies (e.g. smartphones) the amount and types of information has increased bringing in both new opportunities and new challenges. In this paper we review the main opportunities and challenges stemming from the heavy use of digital technologies in society. We outline the needs for applying...
The importance of software in everyday products and services has been on constant rise and so is the complexity of software. In face of this rising complexity and our dependence on software — measuring, maintaining and increasing software quality is of critical importance. Software metrics provide a quantitative means to measure and thus control various attributes of software systems. In the paradigm...
The glycoconjugate vaccines against Neisseria meningitidis are highly effective, however most of these vaccines are expensive and still out of reach in the developing world as well as the technical know-how and the set-up required for the consistent production of pure polysaccharide is limited. Our laboratory has developed rapid, efficient and scalable processes for the downstream purification of...
Terahertz Time domain spectroscopic investigations on the effects of hetero-epitaxial strain on NdNiO3 are presented. The terahertz optical conductivity data obtained for thin films of NdNiO3 points towards stronger electron-electron correlation effects under compressive strain as a higher resistive state manifests, whereas, they are weaker for the tensile strained films.
Here we report the low energy (0.8–7 meV) charge dynamics probed by Terahertz time domain transmission spectroscopy on 40 nm thick PrNiO3 (PNO) thin films deposited on the (LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2TaAlO6)0.7 (LSAT) (110) substrate grown by pulsed laser deposition method. We have experimentally investigated both complex dielectric constant and optical conductivity spectra with respect to temperature ranging...
Predicting reliability of software under development is an important part of estimations in software engineering projects. In many organizations as the goal is that software products are released with no known defects, the process of finding and removing defects correlates with the effort for software projects. Software development projects estimate the resources needed to design, develop, test and...
Software is today an integral part of providing improved functionality and innovative features in the automotive industry. Safety and reliability are important requirements for automotive software and software testing is still the main source of ensuring dependability of the software artifacts. Software Reliability Growth Models (SRGMs) have been long used to assess the reliability of software systems;...
Software Reliability Growth Models (SRGMs) have been used by engineers and managers for tracking and managing the reliability change of software to ensure required standard of quality is achieved before the software is released to the customer. SRGMs can be used during the project to help make testing resource allocation decisions and/ or it can be used after the testing phase to determine the latent...
We have explored the low-energy dynamics in the half-doped Eu0.5Sr0.5MnO3 using terahertz time domain (TDS) spectroscopy. Observation of a finite frequency peak structure in optical conductivity at around ∼4meV suggests low-energy excitation, presumably the charge-density waves.
Terahertz time domain spectroscopy was employed to explore the low-energy dynamics in the half-doped Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 (100) films. We have observed evolution of a peak structure in conductivity at around ∼4 meV which suggests the existence of charge-density waves.
