PAM-DMT is a transmission technique for IM/DD channels that can be effectively employed without a DC bias, by using only the quadrature component of QAM constellations. In this contribution, and based on an algorithm previously employed for AC-DMT [8], we show that the non-linear distortion that falls onto the in-phase component of the received signal also contains useful information, and can be adequately...
This paper investigates the transmission of OFDM signals, generated by a directly-modulated VCSEL, over an optical channel estimated from experimental measurements in OM-3 multimode fibers. Simulation results indicate limitations on the system performance due to the nonlinear L-I curve of the VCSEL. We show that, in these conditions, the system performance can be improved by transmitter predistortion.
SC-FDE has been investigated as a possible alternative to compensate for modal dispersion in data center optical interconnects. The performance of this solution has been previously evaluated under the assumption of a theoretical channel with Gaussian profile. This paper investigates the transmission of SC-FDE using optical channels obtained from experimental measurements in OM-3 fibers. The experimental...
