We use unpolarized synchrotron radiation to probe the temperature dependent transmittance of single crystal Sr14Cu24O41 in the spectral range 15–110 cm−1 (0.45–3.3 THz). At high temperature we identify a conductivity band, which we assign to hole hopping between neighboring chains. At low temperatures we identify 14 resonance bands, 11 of which are previously unreported. Analysis of the absorption...
A terahertz (THz) photomixer: (i) a meander type antenna with integrated nanoelectrodes on (ii) a low temperature grown GaAs has been fabricated and characterized. It was designed for spectral range of 0.3–0.4 THz where molecular fingerprinting and sensing are performed. By combination of electron beam lithography with post-processing using focused ion beam (FIB), milling the THz emitter was successfully...
The dielectric properties of nematic liquid crystal (LC) mixtures are measured from 300 GHz to 1500 GHz. Measurements are performed in a standard THz TDS setup. Refractive index and extinction coefficient for parallel and perpendicular orientation are calculated and compared to results obtained at 19 GHz. The investigated mixtures are of interest for Terahertz devices as their properties stay almost...
We present a method for producing metamaterial fibers containing slotted metallic cylinder resonators, possessing strong magnetic responses in the 100GHz range. We characterize different arrays of such fibers, observing magnetic resonances between 100–200GHz.
