Using single 10Gbit/s EML with a wide operating temperature range, we achieved 40km transmission with a low dispersion penalty of less than 0.8dB over a wavelength range of 2.7nm covering 4-channel at 100GHz grid spacing.
We have experimentally demonstrated 2.5Gb/s C-band burst-mode upstream transmission for TWDM-PON. Using high launched power from a +4.0dBm DFB-LD with low chirp characteristics giving less than 0.6dB penalty after 50km transmission, we could achieve the target split ratio and transmission distance of NG-PON2 (1:64 split, Transmission distance > 40km).
We review the latest progress of burst-mode transceivers for 10G-EPON. The OLT XFP with fast/slow self-switching AGC and ONU SFP+ transceivers can achieve a loss budget of 35.9 dB and a fast sync time of 240 ns, which can realize 256-split with 15 km transmission.
This first super-splits 10G-EPON demonstration achieved the largest loss budget of 35.9 dB and a fast dual-rate synctime of 240 ns supporting 256 ONU splits with 8.0 Gb/s upstream throughput, highlighting novel self-switching AGC based XFP, 82.5 GS/s CDR and ONU SFP+.
We investigated the extended 10G-EPON system which has wide coverage area over 20km transmission. Due to wide 29dB dynamic range and low dispersion penalty of 10.3G optical transceiver, we realized the extended 10G-EPON system which has the wide transmission area over 60km from OLT.
