We demonstrate a high-extinction-ratio hitless wavelength-selective switch with InGaAs/InAlAs multiple quantum well double-series-coupled microring resonators. It is also found that the change in coupling efficiency at couplers has a great effect on the switching characteristics.
A hitless wavelength-selective switch (WSS) based on InGaAs/InAlAs multiple quantum well (MQW) second-order series-coupled microring resonators is proposed. The WSS is operated by an electrorefractive index change in the MQW core layer due to the quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE). The hitless switching of the WSS was successfully demonstrated for the first time.
