A 43 Gbps electro-absorption modulator laser was packaged in a miniaturized module with a novel impedance matched flexible printed circuit connection aiming for a CFP2 transceiver showing ITU-T G.693 compliance.
We demonstrated a 44.6 Gbps electro-absorption modulator laser TOSA applicable to CFP2 using a three-layer flexible printed circuit with high tolerance to the position offset caused by finite assembly accuracy. A mask margin of 12% and a path penalty of 0.5dB after 2.4 km SMF transmission were obtained.
A novel method of direct conversion to Sub-THz or THz wave signals using photon-generated free-carriers by 1.55-mum LD signals was proposed. The signal intensity reduction of sub-THz waves was confirmed by increasing optical signal intensity.
