The HUMAINE project is concerned with developing interfaces that will register and respond to emotion, particularly pervasive emotion (forms of feeling, expression and action that colour most of human life). The HUMAINE Database provides naturalistic clips which record that kind of material, in multiple modalities, and labelling techniques that are suited to describing it.

Real Emotion Is Dynamic and Interactive

This paper discusses a data driven pilot study, designed to explore the expression of emotion in a natural situation.Short sequences of natural behaviour were transformed into still photos and compared with examples of acted behaviour using a FeelTrace type analysis. Results indicate that rapid transitions are more common in natural than in acted behaviour.
