In this study, the author propose a new method called coset partitioning to generate easily and efficiently the best space-time trellis codes (STTCs), thereby reducing considerably the usual important search time. This method, used in the case of 2n-PSK STTCs, is an extension of the set partitioning proposed by Ungerboeck based on the coset and lattice Calderbank's approach. The main guideline of...
In this paper, the generation of 16-QAM and 64-QAM space-time trellis codes (STTCs) for several transmit antennas is considered. The main problem with an exhaustive search is the important time to find the best 22n-QAM STTCs, especially for great values of n and for great numbers of transmit antennas. In order to reduce this search time, an efficient method must be used to generate optimal 22n-QAM...
In this paper, we present a simple method to design the best 4-PSK space-time trellis codes (STTCs) for any number of transmit antennas. This method called ldquocoset partitioningrdquo is based on the set partitioning proposed by Ungerboeck for the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. Thanks to this method, an exhaustive search is no more required to find the best codes. Thus, new 4-PSK...
Several criteria to design good space-time trellis codes (STTCs) have been developed but an exhaustive search is still required to obtain the best codes. In this paper, we propose a new and fast method to design the best STTCs for 2n-PSK modulations. This method is an extension of the set partitioning proposed by Ungerboeck applied for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. Based on this design...
Recently, it has been established that the best space- time trellis codes (STTCs) belong to a specific class of codes. The codes of this class are called "balanced STTCs" because they use the points of the MIMO constellation with the same probability. Therefore, the search of the best codes can be reduced to this class. This paper presents a new and general method to design 2n-PSK balanced...
Recently, a new class of trellis codes called "balanced" space-time trellis codes has been proposed. These codes are "balanced" because they use the points of the MIMO constellation with the same probability. In this paper, we propose a new and simple method to design these codes for 4-PSK and 8-PSK modulations and several transmit antennas. This design method can be easily extended...
Recently, a new class of space-time trellis codes was proposed as having the best performance. These codes are dasiabalancedpsila because they use the points of the constellation with the same probability. In this correspondence, we propose a new and simpler method than existing method to design these class for QPSK modulation and several transmit antennas. New and better balanced codes for 3 and...
All the best known space-time trellis codes (STTCs) belong to the balanced STTC class. The first method to design balanced STTCs is proposed. The exhaustive code search of optimal codes can then be reduced to this class. Finally, the proposed method is used to construct new QPSK codes for three and four transmit antennas, which outperform the best previously published codes of the same complexity.
