Vibrotactile systems are convenient solutions for managing interaction between automatic control systems and humans. This paper develops a vibrotactile assistance system (VAS) for high performance bicycles. The system is designed to assist the rider during braking in order to minimize the time to stop, increasing performances and safety. The proposed control architecture is the result of the low cost...
Computer‐based simulation (CBS) is a powerful tool in engineering education. In the article, the findings of a study designed to evaluate the impact of CBS for the development of a design course project (DCP) in the framework of the Electrical Applications course taught at electrical engineering master degree are presented. The study is based on an experimental approach to evaluate the impact of CBS...
Mathematical modeling and computer simulation is an important area within engineering education. Experience shows that mathematic modeling techniques as a subject of engineering formation are not readily assimilated by students because they present a highly iterative process, where different engineering areas are involved. Today's affordable PCs, and software development tools permit the development...
In this paper the use of student's curiosity to explore the virtual reality models in the World Wide Web is proposed as a new learning approach of engineering. Students were randomly assigned in two groups of 15 persons: one group shall use a virtual model downloaded from Web for the case study and the other no. Both groups of students have completed the same work assignment and have received the...
The paper reviews the literature concerning the energy savings achieved by installation of energy management systems and alternative energy-saving systems (such as alternative heating, ventilation, cooling, and lighting systems). Savings through enlightened occupant behaviour and operation of building systems are also discussed. Implementation of energy management system and the reduction of need...
Rural areas continue to be home for the majority of the population in Albania. The access of country potentials in renewable resources in the form of biomass, hydro, wind, and solar continues to be low in rural areas. There are technical, social, cultural, institutional and economic barriers to the deployment of renewable energy systems and, thus, to their ability to contribute to the long term development...
Analytic expression of axial stiffness between two ring permanent magnets with axial magnetization is given. This is performed with the aid of the axial stiffness calculating function of two coaxial ring disks with uniform charge distribution. The calculating function is expressed through elliptic integral of first and second kind respectively.
Basic concepts and the potential to implement low voltage dc distribution systems in Albania are discussed. Aspects of development required for the use of power electronics equipment for low voltage dc systems are introduced. Our analysis shows that low voltage dc distribution systems have the potential to be used successfully in Albania.
